What's the story?
Wollega, located in western Ethiopia, is a region known for its fertile lands, rich Oromo heritage, and thriving coffee production. It is divided into East Wollega, West Wollega, and Kellem Wollega zones, each contributing to Ethiopia’s agricultural and cultural landscape. Historically, Wollega has been home to the Oromo people, whose traditions, language, and Gadaa governance system have played a significant role in shaping Ethiopia’s history. The region is also famous for its lush forests, abundant rivers, and gold reserves, making it a key economic contributor to the country. Wollega is an important center for Ethiopian coffee production, producing high-quality Arabica beans, similar to nearby Jimma and Kaffa. The region is also known for its natural beauty, with scenic landscapes, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife.
