What's the story?
Enzert is a special traditional object that is used to meticulously pullout a thread wrap called "Dir" from a bundle of cotton. It is common in both northern and southern part of Ethiopia. Weaving is a long-standing practice that is passed down from generation to generation. Traditional apparels like Gabi, Nettella, Kemis and Shema are made from these hand woven textile products. It represents Ethiopian womens' delicate skill of creating beautiful textile artistry representing their culture and origins.Besides functionality, these traditional clothes represent cultural identity and craftsmanship. They are worn during various occasions, including celebrations and religious events. The unique designs and techniques reflect the diverse cultural heritage of different regions and ethnic groups in Ethiopia.
